At Questex, we have taken a pledge to improve our environmental and social impact by developing a corporate policy that aims to maximize the good in what we do whilst we reduce our environmental footprint. As each event, venue and destination are unique; we work with our partners, sponsors, vendors and delegates to craft a sustainability commitment to match local needs and opportunities. We welcome your ideas on how we can continue to improve.

The AHC sustainability commitments

Our sustainability commitments include:

  • Working with the Hilton Manchester to implement their environmental commitments at the event including being as energy efficient as possible through regular building automation system upgrades, energy efficient lighting upgrades and voltage and power factor optimisation
  • Minimising the amount of waste generated by the event by aiming to reduce, reuse and recycle materials where possible
  • Supporting the hotel in its practices of waste reduction through recycling of aluminium/metal cans, cardboard and food/organic waste, community donations program for electronics and hard goods and efficient reuse of cooking oil waste
  • Reducing the need for print collateral by encouraging use of The AHC App amongst delegates and using digital communications wherever possible
  • Using recycled and recyclable materials as much as possible, such as for the printed programme and marketing materials
  • Providing recycling points at the venue
  • Avoiding single-use plastic throughout the event, using non-disposable crockery and cutlery for all catering, and avoiding the use of plastic bottled water in favour of glass and paper cups
  • Encouraging delegates to bring and use their own re-usable water bottles and hot drink cups
  • Promoting the use of seasonal food and responsible sourcing of ingredients as well as offering plant-based dietary options
  • Working with the hotel to ensure food is not wasted by implementing proper planning and preparation
  • Encouraging delegates to make use of public transport where possible
  • Encouraging sponsors and suppliers to reduce the use of printed materials and single-use plastic, to use recycled materials where possible, and to reduce waste. All of our exhibition stands are re-usable, and further details can be seen here. Even our balloons are fully biodegradable.
  • Supporting WaterAid, an international NGO promoting access to clean water around the world

  • All exhibition areas on the ground floor of the Hilton Deansgate are fully accessible, and first and second floor exhibition areas and conference rooms are accessible by lifts
  • All hotel staff are trained annually on disability awareness and all managers are trained on the use of the emergency evacuation chairs
  • The hotel has 15 accessible bedrooms
