Steve is a Chartered Quantity Surveyor with over 35 years’ experience as a cost and project manager in the construction industry. He is a Director and Head of Hospitality for Gleeds, having previously been a Director of Davis Langdon/ AECOM in their London Hotels team.
For the past three decades he has focused exclusively on the hotels and resorts sector. He has worked with most major hotel operators and many developers on a range of hotels, from budget lodges to luxury resorts, in the UK, Europe and worldwide. These include One Aldwych; Claridge’s; The Grove, Chandler’s Cross; The Park Hyatt, Mallorca; The Baha Mar project; ME by Melia, London; The Nobu Hotel, Shoreditch and, most recently, The Lalit Hotel, Tower Bridge.
His opinions and insights are widely sought. He was a main contributor to ‘Quality, Cost, Time’, a guide to creating a successful hotel, with Tri Hospitality Consulting; co-authored with PKF ‘Hotel Design and Construction in the UK’ and co-wrote ‘Hotel Development Economics’, a 2009 publication on international luxury hotel development.
Steve has spoken on hotel procurement at the IHIF in Berlin; on controlling construction investment at the ‘IM HOTEL in Paris and been a guest speaker for several years at the University of Surrey’s Hospitality Management course.
